How I Work

Movement-based osteopathy is an approach that combines hands-on techniques — such as soft tissue work, myofascial release, and joint articulation — with movement re-education. Rather than just easing symptoms in the session, you'll relearn the movement patterns that have become painful or inefficient — and discover how your body actually wants to move when it's given the right information.

I've trained extensively in movement science and assessment - including courses with MovNat, Gray Institute, and specialists in gait, biomechanics and functional movement. This deeper understanding of movement patterns helps me identify what's actually contributing your pain - not just where it hurts.

You'll receive hands-on treatment for immediate relief when you need it. But the real progress comes from building strength, improving your movement patterns, and understanding how your body works - so the same problems don't keep recurring.

Understanding what's happening

I assess how you move to identify patterns that might be contributing to your pain - not just where it hurts.

Hands-on treatment

Osteopathic techniques to relieve discomfort, reduce tension, and help your body move more freely.

Movement re-education

You'll learn movement patterns and exercises that build resilience and address the root cause of your issue.

Tools for independence

Clear explanations and practical strategies so you understand your body and can look after it confidently on your own.

Is this you?

You're frustrated. The pain keeps coming back. You've tried treatment before - maybe it helped for a while, but here you are again. You're tired of quick fixes and want to actually understand and solve the problem.

You're motivated. You're willing to do exercises, change how you move, put in the work between sessions. You don't just want someone to "fix" you - you want to understand your body and know how to look after it.

You want your life back. You want to run, lift, play with your kids, exercise - whatever matters to you - without pain getting in the way.

If that sounds like you, get in touch.

How I've Helped

Lower back pain disrupting marathon training

Jonathan, 50, had persistent lower back tightness that kept disrupting his marathon training. We worked on movement-based mobility exercises and re-learning movement patterns for his pelvis and hips, alongside hands-on treatment. A focused 20-30 minute daily routine helped him avoid major setbacks and continue training.

Not knowing what was safe to do

Martha, 48, had stopped all exercise - hip pain and recurring neck and shoulder tension made her uncertain about what was safe and what would make things worse. Through hands-on treatment combined with clear guidance on how to exercise safely and rebuild confidence, she broke the pain cycle and is confidently active again.

Preparing for second knee replacement

Rachel, 70, developed compensatory patterns from her arthritic knee that persisted even after her first replacement. These unaddressed patterns overloaded her other knee, which now also needs replacing. We're maintaining her strength and function pre-surgery to support better outcomes and faster recovery.

Sidelined by Achilles tendinopathy

Sam, 37, was sidelined from both football and running by Achilles tendinopathy - the two activities keeping him sane during a busy time with young kids. Through progressive strengthening and learning how to build up training safely, he's back to both activities pain-free.

Clients’ Stories

  • "I've had lots of football injuries over the years and seen lots of physios and osteopaths. I can honestly say that Auste's post-session follow-ups are second to none - detailed notes, exercise programmes with progressions, and videos that made me feel confident to up the challenge in my recovery safely."

    Mike, London

  • "I've overcome my fear of weightlifting, previously a pain trigger, and now approach exercise with renewed confidence." I struggled with lower back pain since my 20s, often being homebound for weeks at a time. After working with Auste for over 2 years, I've experienced a significant transformation. Auste's guidance has taught me that maintaining movement is key to overall health and wellness.

    Diego, London

  • "I came to Auste with shoulder pain following a torn rotator cuff that had stopped me from swimming, which was really frustrating. The treatments gave me relief very quickly, but what made the real difference was combining them with her Strong Foundations class. The classes helped me rebuild strength and movement so the results lasted."

    Kate, Crystal Palace

What to Expect

Your first session (60 minutes) focuses on understanding your issue and how it's affecting you. I'll assess how you move to identify what's contributing to your problem, use hands-on osteopathic and soft tissue techniques to relieve immediate discomfort, and guide you through movements that reinforce the treatment.

You'll leave with a clear understanding of what's causing your issue and practical steps to continue at home.

Follow-up sessions (45-60 minutes) build on this foundation - we'll progressively develop your movement plan and continue hands-on treatment as needed. Most people need 3-6 sessions over 6-12 weeks.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Movement-based osteopathy combines hands-on techniques — such as soft tissue work, myofascial release, and joint articulation — with movement re-education. Rather than only treating where it hurts, I assess how your whole body moves to identify the patterns contributing to your pain. You'll then relearn those movements and discover how your body actually wants to move when it's given the right information. The aim is to help you understand your body well enough to look after it on your own, rather than needing ongoing treatment. Learn what to expect in your first session.

  • Traditional osteopathy often focuses mainly on hands-on techniques to relieve symptoms in the session. Movement-based osteopathy includes all of that, but adds detailed movement assessment and re-education. I look at how your whole body moves — not just the painful area — to identify what's actually driving the problem. This means you're not just getting temporary relief; you're addressing the movement patterns that caused the issue in the first place, which is why improvements tend to last longer.

  • Not at all. Movement re-education starts wherever you are right now. Whether you're a runner dealing with recurring injuries or someone who's stopped exercising because of pain, sessions are adapted to your needs. There's no expectation to perform — the focus is on finding better ways of moving that work for you.

  • This is one of the most common things I hear. Often, treatment relieves the symptoms but doesn't address the movement patterns that contribute to them. Your body may have developed ways of moving that overload certain areas — and without changing those patterns, the same problem keeps returning. That's why movement re-education is central to how I work. It is important, but not enough to ease the tension; you need to understand what's causing it and learn to move differently.

  • Honestly, it depends on what your issue, how long you've had it for, and how committed you are to practice in between the session. In many cases we are also working on changing your habits, so it takes time. But the goal is never to keep you coming back indefinitely — it's to give you the knowledge and tools to manage your body confidently on your own.
